How to install and use pfSense OpenVPN Client for Windows?

This article shows you how to install the pfSense OpenVPN client for Windows. By using OpenVPN, you can securely connect to your web applications hosted in SXL VDC without the need to open public ports on the firewall.

== Install OpenVPN ==
# Login to pfSense with Internet Explorer.
# Open VPN > OpenVPN.
# Open Client Export Tab, and check the Management Interface OpenVPN Manager.

# Under Windows Installer, click to download the latest version.

# Click Run.

# If this message appears, click Actions.

# Click Run Anyway.

# If this windows appears, click Yes. (You may need to input administrator password).

# Click OK.

# Click Install.

# If this screen appears, click Download and install this feature.

# Click Close.

# Click Next.

# Click I Agree.

# Don’t change anything on this screen, click Next.

# Click Install.

# Install the device software. Check Always trust … and then click Install.

# After installation, click Next.

# Uncheck Show Readme, click Finish.

# OpenVPNManager icon appeared on Desktop, as well as in Start > All Programs > OpenVPN
# Click Finish.

== Run OpenVPN ==
# Open OpenVPNManager.

# It appears as an icon in the notification area. Double-click the icon to open OpenVPN Manager.

# Click the Settings icon.

# On the Program Settings tab, change the settings like the picture below.

# Back to OpenVPN Manager, click the Connect icon in __Service mode__.

# Input username and password, click [✓] icon.

# Wait until the bullet turns green.

# OpenVPN is successfully connected.
