How to disable SSL in Outlook 365/2016

Microsoft recently changed the way to change account settings in Outlook 365/2016. However, most shared hosting users should have SSL/TLS disabled in their account settings. Here is how to do it.

  • Open Outlook 2016
  • Click File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings

  • Select the account you want to change and click Repair.

  • Open Advanced options

  • click Repair

  • Open Incoming mail

  • User name: Input your full email address
  • Password: Input your own password
  • Remember password: tick
  • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
  • Port:
    • If using IMAP, port is 143
    • If using POP3, port is 110
  • Encryption method: None
  • Require logon using Secured Password Authentication (SPA): Uncheck

  • Click to open Outgoing mail

  • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
  • Port is 587
  • Encryption method: None
  • Tick My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication
  • Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server
  • Click Repair

  • On next screen, click Done

  • On next screen, Click Close
