Question How to start Windows in Safe Mode?

Answer Safe mode comes with Windows 98/Me/2000/XP. Safe mode lets you turn off unnecessary computer programs so that you can find the cause of a problem.

Steps to start your computer in Safe Mode:

- Turn-on your computer. Most computer display a self-diagnostic screen that start counting the memory (the BIOS screen). Some computer display it's brand or may not show anything on the BIOS screen.
- 2 seconds after the BIOS screen, the Windows Splash screen display (with a big Microsoft Windows logo).
- To start your computer in Safe Mode. Restart your computer. Begin tapping the F8 key right after the BIOS screen and before the Windows Splash screen until the Windows Advanced Options screen appear.
- You only have 2 seconds between the BIOS screen and Windows Splash screen to press the F8 key.
- If you begin tapping the F8 key too early, some computer display a "keyboard error" message. If you tap it too late, the Windows will be started in Normal Mode. If this happens, restart the computer and try again.
- On the Windows Advanced Option screen, use the arrow keys on the keyboard, select Safe Mode and press Enter
